Description: These presenters from Millersville University will share how they have encouraged and educated professors and faculty to include ALL students in their classes. This philosophy of inclusion begins in the classroom and extends throughout the campus and into the community.

Attendees can expect to learn the important role of faculty in fostering inclusion; strategies for faculty to use in the classroom; how to build capacity of students through meaningful relationships; and how to measure progress in and out of the classroom.

Dr. Onek Adyanga
Associate Professor of History @Millersville University
Dr. Adyanga earned degrees from Makerere University (Uganda), University of Toronto (Canada), York University (Canada), Royal Military College of Canada (Canada) and University of Connecticut (USA). He is the author of Modes of British Imperial Control of Africa, c.1890-1990 (Cambridge Scholars Publishing: New Castle upon Tyne, 2011). Dr. Adyanga has been collaborating with Integrated Studies since it’s inception. He provides faculty support and guidance on inclusive post-secondary education, including strategies for creating an inclusive classroom community for all students. Dr. Adyanga has also co-facilitated faculty sessions at Millersville University on a range of topics relevant to inclusive post-secondary education.
Jan Bechtel
Director of Integrated Studies @Millersville University
Mx. Bechtel, MSW has been a part of the Millersville University community for 6 years. Mx. Bechtel obtained a Masters in Social Work from Millersville University in 2015 and a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Drexel University in 2011. Mx. Bechtel is currently the Director of Integrated Studies at Millersville University. Previously, Mx. Bechtel served as the Interim Director of the Office of Diversity & Social Justice at Millersville University. In addition, Mx. Bechtel is an adjunct faculty for the School of Social Work and Educational Foundations Department.
Nikki Rohrback
Assistant Director of Integrated Studies @Millersville University
Ms. Rohrback is currently the Assistant Director of Integrated Studies at Millersville University. Ms. Rohrback is a Millersville alumna with a degree in Elementary Education and a specialization in Urban Education. Ms. Rohrback will be pursuing her Masters in Social Work in the upcoming Fall of 2019. She has over 15 years experience working at Millersville, including the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership and the Office of Social Equity & Diversity. In her spare time, Ms. Rohrback is a very active adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America.
